Judicial Conduct Commission issues public reprimand of Pike circuit judge

Pike Circuit Judge Howard Keith HallFRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission has publicly reprimanded one of Pike County’s circuit judges. The commission issued a formal reprimand of Circuit Judge Howard Keith Hall Friday evening, saying Hall repeatedly violated the Code of Judicial Conduct. Specifically, the commission found Hall repeatedly communicated with defendants outside the presence of prosecutors, had inappropriate discussions of confidential matters, threatened a prosecutor, and conducted independent investigations outside of his judicial role. Several roads remain closed due to high water

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – High water is impacting numerous roads in KYTC District 12. These roads remain blocked due to flooding. New roads will be added to the closure list as updates are available. Floyd County Johnson County Knott County Lawrence County Martin County High water remains possible even for roads not listed. Drivers are urged to check GoKY for traffic conditions before traveling, as the website also shows all roads impacted by flooding. Never drive through a flooded roadway. Remember: Turn around. Don’t drown.

Van Lear residents rescued from high water

VAN LEAR, Ky. — Another day of soaking rains brought more problems to Eastern Kentucky this morning. Over in Johnson County, fire departments were out rescuing people from homes that had been surrounded by water. In Van Lear, the W.R. Castle and Oil Springs fire departments teamed up to check on homes surrounded by water. The two departments went door-to-door and ended up rescuing six people from their homes.
