Officials declare State of Emergency ahead of winter storm
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The full impact of a winter storm bearing down on Kentucky is yet to be known, but already, state and officials have issued orders declaring a State of Emergency. Gov. Andy Beshear issued his order on Saturday. Missing Floyd man found dead
McDOWELL, Ky. — A Floyd County man was found dead Saturday night, hours after a Golden Alert had been issued for him. Kentucky State Police issued the alert for Phil Colley, 65, of McDowell, Saturday afternoon. He had last been seen around noon Thursday in the Ned’s Fork area of Frasure’s Creek. Colley’s body was found near a utility access road at Buckhorn. Police say the cause of death remains under investigation, but they do not suspect foul play. Colley’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

DUI stop leads police to drug trafficking arrest
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — An arrest for driving under the influence ended up leading police to an investigation that resulted in drug trafficking charges. Pikeville Police pulled over Clinton Williams, 53, of Pikeville, on U.S. 23 Monday, after noticing that he was weaving. The officer found Williams to be lethargic with glassy eyes, so he had him perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. Williams reportedly admitted to having taken two Neurontin earlier in the day, and he was arrested for DUI and several traffic violations. Traffic stop for speeding leads to fentanyl trafficking arrests
MARROWBONE, Ky. — A traffic stop in Pike County on Monday resulted in two people being arrested for fentanyl trafficking. A Kentucky State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle for speeding and other violations along Route 195 at Marrowbone last Monday night. While speaking to the driver, Adam Baker, 20, of Draffin, the officer noticed the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and Baker reportedly admitted there was marijuana inside. First baby of the year born at PMC
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — It didn’t take long for the first baby of 2025 to be born at Pikeville Medical Center. The hospital announced that Lydia Jade Robinson was born at 2:46 a.m. on Jan. 1. She weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. and was 21 inches long. Lydia is the daughter of Leslie Howell and Matthew Robinson, of Pike County. As is tradition, PMC is waiving all costs associated with the delivery not covered by insurance.
